Day 4
Anyway today started well until the guys could not find the keys to the SUV I had ridden off with them in my pocket, so after a little messing about I was told and had to turn back to see them sitting waiting for me, ooops. Today the road out confused us as we came in on the PCH yesterday and went out on the US101 which is a 3 lane freeway, we came off to see if we had made a mistake but apparently the sat nav was right, the PCH is not always US1 and next to the ocean, so today a lot of the riding was on the 101 which was not exactly scenic but it got us quickly to Santa Barbara which is very scenic. We rode around town for a bit but realised that we could not park our bikes on the street so we headed for the pier, we were please we could ride on the pier to the end and it was free for motorcycles, as usual the weather improved and the sun came out, we had lunch sat outside and it was fantastic. After lunch we got back on our bikes and headed for Pismo Beach, now this again was going to be on the 101 but for some reason we lost the SUV but we didn’t realise this until quite a way in, we pulled up in a rest area and phoned the guys, it turned out their satnav took them off the 101 and over some hills to Pismo, so we agreed to meet them at a hotel in Pismo Beach and carried on. The riding weather today was a bit chilly but perfect, Once we got near Pismo the sun came out again and by the time we had all checked into our rooms is was hot enough for some of the guys to go in the pool, the rest of us hit the bar which was on the cliff top, this hotel is great, its the Shore Cliff Lodge by Best Western by the way. The bar turned out to be the restaurant so we ended up staying in there all night and as you can imagine the beers kept coming. The food in this restaurant was fantastic, we all agreed that each of our meal choices were some of the best we had had. Today was a great day and we are so pleased with the weather so far, tomorrow we plan on trying to camp out on the beach south of San Francisco but who knows things could easily change.
